From ancient times, there has been a mysterious connection between the shaman and the showman. There is a good deal of evidence that at one time the tribal elder was also the storyteller, historian, healer, and magician. This deep connection between doctors, therapists, healers, and magicians is not merely a historical fact. There are compelling reasons to think of these pursuits as closely related. For indeed, when a magician weaves a spell of wonder and leaves us in the state of astonishment… there can be a temporary healing of mind, body, and spirit.

Join us on Sunday, March 29th, 2020 in Blackpool as we explore these fascinating connections between the shaman and the showman. McBride’s Magic & Mystery School has hosted classes, seminars, and conferences that explore these rich themes for over thirty years.

Conference 2 – Sunday 29, March 2020, 10am – 6pm: Shaman & Showman: The Meaning of Magic

This conference is open to magicians only. Learn how to empower your performances by weaving powerful meaning into your magic.

Topics will include: Presentation; How to present your magic for maximum impact. Magic as visual metaphor; How to turn any effect into meaningful magic. Character development; How to share what is unique about YOUR life; how to connect your story with your audience. Scripting; How carefully crafted ‘good words’ transforms your ‘tricks’ into powerful magic. Plus exclusive magic routines and techniques for you to add to your current shows. Tea/coffee on arrival. Buffet lunch.

This conference is limited to a small group of participants, who will receive exclusive materials not available for sale elsewhere. The Shaman and Showman gift package will include video downloads and a PDF kit, containing more than £150 worth of merchandise and both group/individual instruction about magic routines, healing metaphors, and philosophy.

The conference is open to all levels of interest. No one needs to be a magic performer to attend. Indeed, we know that many people in each conference will not be performers, that they will be there to deepen their knowledge about this extraordinary subject and to have a great deal of fun with like-minded colleagues.
